Just because an ad says 2 for $4 doesn't mean you have to buy 2 of that item. Just buy one if that's all you need. It's great when you have a $1 off coupon and just buy one item, it means you only have to pay $1. But if you have two coupons use them both and start stockpiling your stuff while it's on sale!
