This is a little off topic but take it from me and my family that shopping for a new vehicle at Bobby Rahal Honda on Carlisle Pike in Mechanicsburg, PA was the most frustrating and unpleasant expierence I've EVER encountered when car shopping.
I lease my vehicles, it might not work for everyone but I love having a new vehicle every few years so it works for me. I've been doing this for 16 years! And this past July when I got my Honda Odyssey, it totally backfired and we owed money but were never told at the time that we owed any money.
Let me start at the beginning (and I'll try to keep this short!)...
I had a 2006 Honda Accord that still had a year left in the 36 month lease. When we got to Bobby Rahal Honda, we explained right away to our salesmen, Troy, that we planned on leasing another vehicle and gave him the latest invoice from our Accord. He told us right off the bat that he wasn't familiar with leasing. He asked if we had our vehicle inspected and we told him no. He set that up and came back and told us that we didn't have any positive equity in the car and we would do better "just walking away". So we figured we didn't make money on it like we did our previous vehicle but not once were we told that we actually owed $2,995.20 until we got a bill from Honda! Wouldn't you think if someone told you to walk away means you're just walking away from it?
I was in contact with Paul, a sales manager, and explained at no time we were informed that we owed money on the Accord or we would have NEVER bought the Odyssey. He of course tried to blame us saying we should have known there was a balance and it was our responsibility. I told him I handed our salesman the invoice that says right on it how many months are left to pay in the lease and the balance. Needless to say it was an ongoing battle for a few days but they did agree to pay half of $2,995.20. I wasn't happy with that at all but I figured it was better than nothing.
Then 3 days ago I realized that Honda took our monthly payment out of our checking account because that was how it was set up. I called Paul back at Bobby Rahal and left a message that we would be subtracting that payment from our half of what we owed. And guess what? He called me this morning and said that 50% of that was theirs! They wanted $125 of that payment. How irresponsible is that for a dealership!
I've never ever had a problem with leasing but I will never walk through the doors at Bobby Rahal Honda. They have very poor customer service and I plan on writing a letter to the corporation to let them know they have a very unsatisfied family. I don't want any family to go through the financial frustration that my family went through.
Bottom line is don't EVER SHOP FOR A VEHICLE AT BOBBY RAHAL! They don't care about the customer just the profit. Check out Faulkner Honda for a better deal!
